The world over creative people are showing their resilience. And the ability to perform in spite of all the constraints.
The above video by my friend Vivek Kamat is a good example. Vivek told me, 'Like all good citizens I was at home. And while painters can paint and you can write, the question to me was, what can I do as a filmmaker?'
I was talking to my friend in Bangalore who runs an agency called Beantown Union, and the chat turned into a kind of brainstorming. Two of us thought about it, what can be done in minimum resources, in the home? And we thought about this idea?'
In the hands of an amature film maker it would have become a tik-tok video. But Vivek is a much awarded advertising film maker and we can see his rigour into this fim, too.
Let me explain.
While the whole world, the best laboratories in the world, are struggling to find a vaccine for Covid-19, we Indians are still have certain beliefs in the home remedies! From baking soda to homeopathic drops we have so many suggestions in our in-boxes. So, as an astute communicator, Vivek begins the film with a home remedy promise.
Then, he did his 'recce'! The balcony was a good location to evoke the desire for the outdoor. And the chipping birds adds to that feeling. He also waited for the right colours. During the day, the sky was too bright, so he chose the evening time when the sky had a tinge of blue which looked good with the green trees.
The film is shot with his phone camera.
Again, rather than doing the edit himself, he sought help of an editor friend, Baljeet Rall to do the needful.
And the result is in front of us! A professional production in the minimum resources. A lesson, how the professionals create a difference even with all the limitations.
