Creativity and innovation training

June 12, 2021

Many times we creative people get blocked. While a deadline looms large, and we want to stretch ourselves, the work doesn't get done. Or, what we see on the paper or the canvas isn't fresh and exciting. We seem to repeat ourselves. Or, try to repurpose old ideas.

In such scenarios, it's better to take a break. And change your medium of expression. If you are writing an article, shift to doodling of ideas. I often deliver a speech about the subject I am writing. Sometimes its funny and incoherent. But, through that rant pops up a new idea, or a completely new angle to what I was struggling to express on paper.

On the other hand if you are painting and fill blocked, or tired, write a note about the painting. Or just go on an association train. Let one idea lead to another. Very soon you will feel fresh.

Sometimes I sing about the work I am doing, and new doors open in my head. Try it out.
