Ask The Question Differently

Lesson 2

How we state the problem or situation makes a lot of difference to the solution we arrive at.

If you ask for a chair, you get a chair. The same 4 legged chair.
Even if you ask for a 'different kind of chair,' you will get a chair!

But if you ask for 'something to sit on comfortably,' you will get a solution which may not be a chair.

It may be a bean bag!

Or, if you ask for: A resting place for an aged person, you may design a rocking chair.

So second step in creating a better problem is to focus on what you wish to achieve (Something to sit) but not to ask for specific known solutions (A chair).
