The promo video by Olympics committee--Stronger Together, evoked a sense of hope in me. It has a special significance in these pandemic times. There are important messages for we creative people in this video message.
Like--Progress isn't forged in shadows!
We all kept our chin up through the pandemic. And it still is here. The possibility of future waves are looming large over our activities, our decisions and our hopes. We did well, I say. We reflected on our values, thought about what's important in life. We understood what we give a hoot about and what can be ignored. Also we all grew as individuals, as artists, as creative thinkers.
But still! There is a limit to pushing oneself. The world only moves forward when we move together. As the video suggests, it is not about breaking records...but about going to the edge of the possibility. Because however hard we may push our self, we can't reach to the point where we can reach when we push each other-Together!
That's a great insight. When we compete healthily. we push each other to do things that we won't do alone. When one of us shines through her performance, it also lifts the game for all of us. Isn't it? When one person breaks a record, it just isn't his personal achievement, it is a proof of human possibilities for us all.
To me, it's a great reminder that we creative people must push each other, must challenge each other with new possibilities. When I see a great creative work and I feel--Heck, I can't do that, that's also the moment when I know it is possible! Because someone like me has done it. And in that moment I grow. I want to push the envelope further by doing something that will surpass it.
As the Olympics' video concludes--Alone we are small, but together we become giants!
Here is an example, how creative people can push each other:
